Meet Dr. Amy Leigh Wicks
Author • Actress • Educator • Soulful Storyteller
Amy Leigh Wicks is a poet, actress, and educator originally from New York City, now based in Northern California. Her work invites us into the tender terrain of identity, loss, love, and migration—navigating where the heart meets the page and the body meets the stage.
She holds a PhD in Creative Writing from Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington’s International Institute of Modern Letters in New Zealand, and an MFA from The New School in New York. She is the author of The Dangerous Country of Love and Marriage (Auckland University Press) and Orange Juice and Rooftops (Eloquent Books), and her poetry has appeared in The Best American Poetry blog, Turbine | Kapohau, SPORT, drDOCTOR, and beyond.
In her recent role as Associate Dean of Performing Arts at Bethel Conservatory of the Arts, Dr. Wicks shaped the next generation of artists and storytellers. She has been featured on Radio New Zealand’s Standing Room Only, The Artist Well’s A Taste of Shakespeare, and more.
Whether through poetry, performance, or presence, Amy Leigh invites others into spaces of healing, honesty, and beauty. At Becoming, she’ll guide us in the transformative power of words—helping us write, reflect, and reconnect with the woman God dreamed when He formed us.
